SCORE

Are you interested in an unforgettable experience abroad in July or August? Would you like to be part of pioneering scientific research? Are you curious to know what life is like at a foreign university? Do you love discovering another culture and making new, international friendships with students all over the world?

If the answer to these questions was a resounding ‘YES!!!’, then a research exchange with SCORE might be for you.

SCORE (Standing Committee on Research Exchange) organises research internships abroad in 152 different countries worldwide. SCORE is an international programme of IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students' Associations), the umbrella organisation of BeMSA. For four weeks during the summer months of July, August or September, you can participate in a research project of your choice in one of your favourite countries.

The local committee of each city provides accommodation, a research project, one meal per weekday, a social program, national excursions during the weekends and a contact person.

A contact person accompanies you as an incoming student: he/she is the person to contact in case of problems, who waits for you at the airport or station, who shows you around the city of your exchange and who can give you the ultimate tips for the best sights and terraces.

The social programme is organised by the local committee and can include very diverse activities: a welcome party, cultural activities, visiting tourist attractions, trips to the beach, a food and drink party, interesting workshops... In short, the social programme means enjoying and having fun with the other students after your hours in the lab.

  • You get to know other cultures and learn how to deal with cultural differences.
  • You broaden your horizons and discover new perspectives for looking at life/the world.
  • You make friends for life from all corners of the world.
  • You experience a unique, fantastic month that is not only hugely educational but also super fun.

In short: an experience that will stay with you all your life !!!

€ 600 for four weeks included:

  • Pre-Exchange Training (PET, mandatory)
  • accomodation
  • Research project with supervision
  • 1 meal per weekday
  • Contact person

! The social program is sometimes included, depending on the country, local committee and activities.

Not included:

  • flight tickets
  • Any visas (depending on destination)
  • Any vaccines (depending on destination

How can I applicate?

Before you apply, it is important that you first gather more information by reading the PowerPoint from our information session on October 15, 2024, and/or our brochure. These contain all the necessary information, including details on how to apply. If you want to sign up, it is essential that you have read all the information in the PowerPoint, as the information there is the most up to date!

In our brochure, you can also find the list of countries where we are sending students this year. The 'exchange conditions' button will take you directly to the IFMSA website. There you will find all the information about the exchanges: exchange conditions, cities, universities, periods, research projects, accommodation, and the social program... Please note: the list of countries in the brochure is no longer up to date. The most recent version can be found via the Google spreadsheets link in the PowerPoint!

Candidates who seem most suitable to us and our local and national selection committees to go on exchange will be invited for our second selection round: an online interview during the weekend of November 16-17, where we will ask you some questions and inquire about your motivation, language skills, and self-sufficiency.
