The Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights including HIV and AIDS is composed of passionate students who are committed to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights through open conversation, creativity and education. Through our projects ’SOS’, ‘Gender Based Violence’ and ‘The Stigma Challenge’ we strive to create awareness about existing stigma’s, discrimination and taboos.

SOS (Seksuele Opvoeding op School) is an initiative striving to educate high school students about sexuality, relationships, feelings and much more while creating a positive attitude towards these subjects without taboo. We want to make sexuality more discussable. We hope students can explore their sexuality and form relationships in a safe, informed and confident way. Every semester we host a training evening for students from different healthcare backgrounds to prepare them for teaching these classes.

Gender Based Violence is a project that focuses on informing and raising awareness. We accomplish this through various events, both creative and playful activities and catchy and insightful evenings. Our goal is to make this complex issue discussable and to show that together we are stronger.

With the project The Stigma Challenge BeMSA Leuven is trying to break down sexual stigmas. The stigmas addressed include sexual and gender-related issues. All too often, sexual stigma is still an underlying problem within society, which is why The Stigma Challenge tries to address it in an accessible and creative way within the student community. Each year there is one centre theme, this year's theme is ‘Embody, Empower, Embrace’.
