SCOPE

Are you interested in an international experience in July or August? Are you interested in gaining clinical experience abroad? Are you curious about life at a foreign university? Do you love discovering a different culture and making new international friendships with students from all over the world?

If your answer to these questions was a resounding ‘YES!!!’, then a clinical exchange with SCOPE (Standing Committee on Professional Exchange) might be just the thing for you.

SCOPE (Standing Committee on Professional Exchange) organizes international clinical internships in 152 different countries worldwide. SCOPE is an international program of IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations), the umbrella organization of BeMSA. During four weeks in the summer months of July, August, or September, you can participate in a clinical internship of your choice in one of your favorite countries.

The Local Committee of each city provides accommodation, a research project, one meal per weekday, a social program, national trips during weekends, and a contact person.

A contact person guides you as an incoming student: they are the person you can reach out to in case of any problems, who welcomes you at the airport or station, helps you navigate the city of your exchange, and gives you the best tips for sightseeing and great local spots.

The social program is organized by the Local Committee and can include a wide variety of activities: a welcome party, cultural events, visits to tourist attractions, beach trips, food and drink parties, interesting workshops… In short, the social program means enjoying and having fun with other students after your hours at the hospital.

  • You get to know other cultures and learn how to deal with cultural differences.
  • You broaden your horizons and discover new perspectives on life and the world.
  • You make lifelong friends from all corners of the globe.
  • You experience a unique, fantastic month that is not only incredibly educational but also a lot of fun.

In short: an experience you will remember for the rest of your life!!!

€600 for four weeks, including:

  • Pre-Exchange Training (PET, mandatory)
  • Accommodation
  • Research project with supervision
  • One meal per weekday
  • Contact person

!! The social program is sometimes included, depending on the country, local committee, and activities !!

Not included:

  • Flight tickets
  • Possible visa (depending on destination)
  • Possible vaccinations (depending on destination)

How can I applicate?

Before you apply, it’s important to first gather more information by reading the PowerPoint from our information session on October 15, 2024, and/or our brochure. These contain all the details, including how to apply. If you want to register, it’s necessary to have read all the information on the PowerPoint, as it contains the most up-to-date details!

In our brochure, you will also find a list of the countries where we are sending students this year. The ‘exchange conditions’ button will take you directly to the IFMSA website, where you can find all the information about the exchanges: exchange conditions, cities, universities, periods, research projects, accommodation, and the social program.

Please note: the list of countries in the brochure is not up to date. The most recent version can be found through the Google spreadsheets link in the PowerPoint!

Candidates who seem most suited to go on exchange, according to our selection committee, will be invited to our second selection round: an online interview during the weekend of November 16-17, where we will ask you a few questions, including about your motivation, in English.
