Project
Life is a unique initiative within SCOME, created specifically to immerse
medical students in the fascinating world of transplantation. The project
consists of an external and internal component, each with its own purpose and
impact.
The
external component focuses on raising awareness and supporting Transplantoux, a
non-profit organization associated with UZ Leuven that encourages
transplanted patients to keep moving. This year we organized a quiz for the
benefit of Transplantoux and an orientation walk, where transplant patients and
students meet each other in an informal way.
The
internal component offers a group of students a unique opportunity to
experience the practice up close. They take part in being on-call in the abdominal
transplant department, where they not only take theoretical classes on the
transplant procedure, but ultimately get to play an active role themselves.
Project
Life is more than a learning experience - it's an inspiring opportunity to
enthuse students, deepen their knowledge and introduce them to the wonderful
world of transplantation.
